We’ve created an easy self-serve experience so you can gather at your own pace. During the busy hours, there is usually someone working in the U-pick field, but we are primarily a self-serve operation with someone likely somewhere weeding, picking, designing blooms elsewhere on the farm... checking in on the U-Pick often. This means we are leaning into our guests to follow the farm rules and treat our farm & flowers with care and respect.
When you arrive:
This is an operational farm, so please follow posted instructions and safety guidelines. Picking with care helps us keep the field thriving for our pollinators, our guests, and the seasons ahead.
PAYMENT
Cash in the Honor Box at the U-Pick Stand, etransfer or scan the QR code to pay online.
(Please note: The U-pick stand and the farm are monitored by cameras 24/7)
Tips
When you arrive please park infront of the building, or if spaces are full you can park around the laneway loop. (For special events we will have marked parking with signage to our back parking area) .
*** Do not drive off of the laneway, drive behind the building or to back fields etc. All parking is infront of the building and other areas of the farm are not open to the public***
If you have a group booked with us for a visit/workshop/event, we will watch for you to arrive and meet you at the front of the building when you arrive. We will then point the bus driver in the direction of parking after you have offloaded. Our laneway is large and loops around, so it is easy for even large coach buses to maneuver.
Yes, we have public washrooms on site. You will find a public porta potty at the edge of the U-Pick field...not too far from the U-Pick stand, at the edge of the tree line.
Wheelchairs
(The Porta potty is not easily accessed by wheel chair, so we encourage you to use the washroom before visiting. OR please visit during our Farm Retail Store hours and we can give you entry to our employee/warehouse washroom that is more accessible for wheelchairs)
Our U-Pick Field is set up to provide everything you need and can be found at the U-Pick Stand. Please ensure you read all instructions at the stand.
At the stand you will be able to pay, borrow snips for cutting, choose a vase of your choice and have access to water with special floral hydrating solution in it for in your vase/container.
If you bring your own vase/container please ensure it is disinfected well before arriving (Sanitize cycle in your dishwasher... or wash with dish soap and then disinfect with peroxide or bleach then rinse)
Tips:
We find most guests visits last 30-60 minutes. Depending on your speed of choice, cutting and arranging... and if you decide to stay and enjoy the space for a little, or if you decided to pack some snacks and a beverage will reflect the length of your stay.
We encourage you to stay and enjoy the space after you have picked your flowers. You are welcome to bring along beverages + snacks to enjoy after your visit.
No Glass please... and Please ensure you leave our space clean and tidy, taking any food/garbage with you when you leave... this not only leaves the space tidy for our next guests but it also prevents attract bees, ants or animals.
Wednesday - Saturday 9-4 when our Farm Retail store is open we have basic beverages & snacks, as well as icecream bars for purchase. (Charcuterie boxes can be preordered for workshops, sunset pick nights, Fridays & Saturdays.... we also offer bookings for blooms & brunch on saturday mornings... please register on our events/workshops page)
Sorry, but for liability reasons entry to our U-Pick Field is for picking/paying/workshop customers only. If you are interested in joining us for a farm tour or one of our workshops please check out our events page to register, or reach out to us.
If you are a senior residence/home looking for a little outing with your residence, please reach out to us... we would happy to set up a free time for you to sit and enjoy the space with them.
Our garden is always changing as the season unfolds, with an ever-rotating mix of blooms to explore and cut. You may find sunflowers, zinnias, cosmos, snapdragons, celosia, amaranth, gladiolus, dahlias (august/sept) and many many more varieties depending on what’s at its peak when you visit. Varity changes week to week and through out the season and also depending on what guests are cutting. The most abundant selection/peak season is late July- Early September.
If you are purchasing a small or large vase simply fill it with water and head out to the field and start picking, as many stems as you can fit in the vase is the limit. Make sure you fill it nice and full, but do not overstuff so much that stems start to bend, or there is no breathing room that the flower stems start to rot/mold due to tightness in the neck of the vase, or that you can't keep up with keeping the vase full of water.
Everything in the U-pick field is for cutting, most is in rows, or we also have a plot of Zinnias, Sunflowers etc within the U-pick area that are available for cutting. If it is a planter pot or a part of our landscape or anywhere other then the U-Pick field.... it is not for cutting.
Yes, we do have a handful of picnic tables for you to sit and enjoy the space and arrange at, or during events or sunset picks we will have a basket of picnic blankets for your to use while visiting. We also have a couple small cocktail tables to stand and arrange at throughout the garden
You are welcome to bring along lawn chairs or picnic blankets with you to set up in the u-pick field or in the adjacent grass area in front of the building/U-Pick field in the shade of the trees.
If visiting when our farm retail store is open (wed-sat 9a-4p) you are welcome to pop in and ask to borrow a picnic blanket.
Yes, BUT....
Wheelchairs, scooters and the like are always welcome and we try to make the space as inclusive as possible... while working with a operating farm and mother nature.
We layout our paths to be plenty wide for easy maneuvering of wheel chairs, scooters, strollers, wagons and the likes... however paths can be bumpy and are typically grass, mulch or straw base. At times due to weather/rain they can be softer and harder to maneuver.
If you are a senior group, old age home or group with disabilities coming with a mobility bus, please reach out to us to schedual your farm visit and Laura will hop right on the bus with you and take you for a driving tour of the farm where we will wrap right around to park right alongside the U-pick field to get you nice and close.
At this time we do only have a public porta potty in the U-Pick field, so we encourage you to use the washroom before visiting. (During store hours or schedualed visits we do have an employee/warehouse washroom that is more accessible for wheelchairs)
Yes, groups are welcome. Families (immediate) or couples need only pick one container (or as many as you wish) for entry. If you are coming with a group, bus or extended family... the majority of people in your party must be participating/paying customers. Entry to the U-Pick field is for picking/paying/workshop customers only. Because we want to keep an affordable and welcoming space for family (immediate) or a grandparent and grandchild or a couples date... we do not want to charge a individual entry fee... this is why these rules for groups are in place.
The U-Pick field is not for family gatherings or parties, we want to be sure to have adequate space for all of our guests. If you are wanting to book the space for a private rental please reach out, we would be happy to schedual a time and designated space for your group.
LARGE GROUPS/BUSES
For large groups & buses we ask that you reach out to us to schedual a time for your visit. We would hate for you to arrive and there be limited space do to another group or workshop. Typically for large groups and buses we also offer a free behind the scenes farm tour (walking or by your bus) or we can do a quick U-Pick tutorial for everyone or even custom cater a workshop for your group. We will also ensure we have seating reserved for your arrival.
If you are coming with a group of friends, it is not necessary to book ahead. But if it is a bachelorette or work group we do encourage you to reach out to us if you are coming with a group of more then 6 people, this way we can reserve a picnic table for you if needed... we do also offer private group bookings for evenings outside of our regular hours, at our regular rates.
Absolutely. We are family driven farm and children are welcome, but they must be supervised and please ensure they are respectful of other guests. Please ensure they stay on the paths and are not damaging/running through flowers/rows to ensure nothing is damaged and for their own safety.
You are welcome to bring a stroller, wagon etc. into the U-Pick field/garden. We layout our paths to be plenty wide for easy maneuvering of wheel chairs, scooters, strollers, wagons and the likes... however paths can be bumpy and are typically grass, mulch or straw base. At times due to weather/rain they can be softer and harder to maneuver.
Unfortunately, pets are typically not permitted in the U-Pick field due to previous issues with people not picking up after their pets and pets being aggressive towards other guests and children, or escaping/running off to the highway.
HOWEVER, if you have an extremely well behaved pet, we would love to have them. We do truly love animals, and wish a few bad apples didn't ruin it for everyone. Your pet is permitted only if they are kept on a leash at all times and respectful of other guests. If you have a dog that may react to surprise animals like a bunny or bird, running children, loud noises or a dog that can exhibit aggressive behavior or will be barking in the U-pick we ask that you do not bring them along.
We have the right to deny your pets entry or ask you to leave at any time, without conflict.
